The second UArt Media Fest, an international media art festival, on October 5, 2024 in Kyiv. This year’s event featured the works of designers from over 10 countries, including the USA, Canada, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Latvia, Ukraine, the UAE, Japan, and India. Artists showcased their creations on some of the largest facade screens in Europe, providing a stunning visual experience for attendees.
The festival’s theme, “The Universe Within,” united the entries of motion designers, 3D visualizers, and light show creators. The event offered a unique opportunity for artists to present their works on a grand scale in the heart of Kyiv. For those unable to attend in person, an online broadcast of the event was made available as well.
Two standout participants were awarded grants to further develop their projects, with a first-place prize of $3,000 and a second-place prize of $1,000. Winners will also have the chance to collaborate with the international media platform MEET FUTURE, which offers the opportunity to present their works on prominent global media stages.
International jury consists of Alan Badoev (UA), films and videos director and producer, Illia Chichkan (UA), artist and performance author, Leonid Kolosovsky (UA), music video maker and director, Oleg Malamuzh (UA), animated films director, Mykola Kabluka (UA), lighting designer, founder and art director of “Expolight” and “Kabluka Light & Digital Sculptures”, Inna Chut, entrepreneur, CEO and co-founder of SKVOT school, Krystyna Palianova (UA), creative director of “MEET FUTURE”, Viktor Pryduvalov (UA), music videos and films director, musician, video maker, Jeremy Oury (FR), French artist and art curator, Cansu Peker (USA), art curator and founder of Digital Arts Blog (yay!).
The main criteria for evaluating the works were: the storyline, “richness” of the video sequence (number of plot twists and changes in effects), quality of execution, use of different stylistic techniques and ability to combine them, presence of unique elements in the work, and overall impression.
Ukrainian motion designer Mykyta Barko took first place. His works were characterized as having a deep personal approach and artistic expression. As part of the competition, Mykyta presented a large-scale art installation in an illustrative style called “Memories”.
The second place went to the video producer Dmytro Zernytskyi, who has been producing graphics for over a decade, collaborating with international companies to create advertising, entertainment, and informational content that conveys ideas, knowledge, and emotions. His work, “Green Light”, symbolizes the freedom of ideas from the boundaries of routine.
The winner of the special nomination for “Innovative Approach” with the work “Silence” was Xander Hype, a Ukrainian 3D designer who creates visual shows for screens. He specializes in combining technology with artistic enrichment, captivating the audience with dynamic 3D compositions that move them to the world of the future.
The festival is organized by Kyiv’s Gulliver multifunctional complex in partnership with MEET FUTURE.
This year’s festival became the highlight of the anniversary celebration of the Gulliver complex and has gained international recognition. UArt Media Fest recently won the 2024 Eventex Awards, marking the first time a Ukrainian event has achieved this honor.
The festival became a defining moment in the country's evolving cultural landscape, bringing together creativity and cutting-edge digital innovation.
