Artist Interview: Alex Arseni

Aleksandr Koshelev, also known as Alex Arseni in the digital art world, is a 3D designer known for his clean, visually engaging illustrations and animations. Over the years, Alex has worked with brands like AVO Bank, Turkish Airlines, and Revolut, crafting everything from fintech visuals to conceptual product renders. His work reveals a fascination by the interaction of form, light, and texture.

His creative journey began with graffiti, which sparked his passion for visual storytelling and led him into the world of graphic design — first through lettering and logo design, and eventually into 3D. His work has been featured in online design blogs, a recognition that reinforces his dedication.

We asked Alex about his art, creative process, and inspirations.

Can you tell us about your background as a 3D designer? How did you get started in this field?

My creative journey began with graffiti, where I first discovered my passion for visual storytelling. Over time, I realized I could turn this passion into a career. Since graffiti is closely connected to lettering and logo design, I started there, gradually moving into more complex visual compositions.

I was always eager to expand my creative toolkit. The idea of incorporating 3D elements into my projects intrigued me, so I dove into learning 3D modeling. What started as an experiment quickly turned into a full-fledged profession.

What is an event which you consider a milestone in your 3D design career?

One of my proudest achievements is that renowned companies, design studios, and private clients trust me with their projects. The fact that my work has been recognized and featured in various online design blogs is another milestone that validates my efforts. What makes this even more special is that I am entirely self-taught, having honed my skills through online resources and hands-on practice.

You’ve worked with big companies like Turkish Airlines and Revolut. How do you collaborate with these brands to ensure your designs fit their vision while keeping your creative touch?

My collaboration with Turkish Airlines started when I was actively sharing my work on Dribbble. They reached out with a request to create a series of small 3D illustrations for the Co2mission project, which highlighted their sustainability efforts.

As for Revolut, their HR team once wrote to me, suggesting I try working with them. That initial outreach turned into a successful collaboration that lasted over a year, during which I worked on various illustrations and animations for their campaigns.

Currently, I am working at AVO Bank, a fintech platform that brings together open-minded and innovation-driven people. Their expertise and passion help turn bold ideas into reality and drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies in banking services.

What’s one of the most memorable or unexpected projects you’ve worked on, and what made it stand out for you?

It’s tough to pick just one, as each project is an opportunity to explore new techniques. However, my work for Dynomine stands out. They commissioned an animated 3D factory to visualize their service. This project was particularly exciting because it reminded me of my early days in 3D, where I explored similar industrial concepts.

Is there a new technique or style you’re excited to explore in your next project?

I’m especially intrigued by the fusion of AI and 3D tools. I see great potential in leveraging AI to push creative boundaries while maintaining artistic integrity.

What is a fun fact about you?

Sometimes I imagine everyday objects in wireframe mode, as if they were raw 3D models waiting to be textured and rendered.

What else fills your time when you’re not creating art?

Music plays a big role in my life—I play electric and bass guitar, often jamming with friends to ’80s music. I also enjoy amateur sports and traveling across Southeast Asia, immersing myself in different cultures and languages.

What’s one thing you’d love to see change or develop in the world of 3D design in the near future?

I’d love to see AI and 3D tools integrate more seamlessly, enabling artists to execute bold ideas more efficiently. However, AI should serve as an assistant that amplifies human creativity, rather than replacing it.

What is a dream project you’d like to make one day?

Collaborating with fashion brands like Fred Perry or Lacoste would be a dream come true. The intersection of 3D design and fashion is incredibly inspiring, and I’d love to contribute to that space.
